KARACHI: Police on Tuesday arrested two students in a case pertaining to the abduction of 20-year-old girl Dua Mangi from a busy commercial area of DHA in Karachi.
Earlier on Sunday morning, five armed men in a car intercepted Dua and her young friend, who were strolling along the road, fired multiple shots, left him wounded and took away the girl early morning.
Law enforcement officials believe that the case pertaining to Dua’s kidnapping may be a case of exacting revenge.
According to sources, Dua’s father told police that 10 days ago her daughter had a fight with her friend, later identified as Muzafar, and a few days later she was abducted.
On Monday, police deduced that the kidnappers may have used a car that was snatched earlier from Karachi’s Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS) neighborhood last week.
Ferozabad police station’s Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Aurangzeb Khan Khattak said that a car that was snatched from a trader, Danial Javed, at gunpoint in PECHS Block 2 was suspected to have been used by Dua’s kidnappers.
Khattak added that four armed robbers had snatched Javed’s car at gunpoint from outside his residence and a first information report (FIR) was subsequently registered at Ferozabad police station.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and IG Dr Syed Kaleem Imam had ordered fast-paced investigations into the alleged kidnapping, asking the authorities to use every possible channel and technology to arrest the culprits and recover the girl safely.
They also assured the families of the two victims of their full support and cooperation.
